What other "dumb" devices should be made "smart" with an ESP?

Recently I've been on a kick of taking dumb household devices and making them into smart devices for just a couple bucks worth of parts. (for my own reference at this point I've done a smoke detector: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48rV7RkM_2U , automatic router rebooter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbA4t5nBcB0 , garage door opener https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhlTrWN0nM4 and a home sprinkler system https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNE7W_OFHqQ)

I'm thinking it would be cool to make a coffee reservoir re-filler for k-cup style machines so that you could just have a large jug of water next to the machine that needs to be re-filled far less or even hook it into a home water system (though it's not likely I'll actually do this for a video but just point out that it could be done).

What also comes to mind is an automatic fan that senses the temp in the room and turns on to pull cool air from outside to cool the room only when needed.

Something I've always wanted to do is also automatic notifiers for the laundry machines so I can get a notification on my phone when they're done.

If you have anything to add or want to expand on these ideas let me know here!

I saw this (parts) somewhere on the internet, but without instructions, and I know there is a product ( or 2 ) for this (again parts ) but how about a smart bathroom fan.  Senses temperature and humidity, mqtt , wifi.  Nice if it would sense 'noxious gases' but no clue how.  Maybe presence detection to enable lights if required.

I love this idea! I'm actually in the process of re-doing my bathroom so there will be a brand new (read not crappy and broken) fan in there. This seems like a really good little end of summer project. I like the gas sensor idea too! I have a sensor I've been meaning to do a video/test of that is meant to detect gases. I'm not sure if it will react to cleaning products (I'm not sure what other noxious gases there would be) but it's worth a test!
